Costuming Skills
I design by researching a specific time in history, to look at specific styles and colors of the area. Then followed up by colored sketches and fabric swatches for each character. I design, cut and custom fit many different types of corsets, including pattern drafting, using four different kinds of boning. I can construct from flat pattern drafting or draping, using the necessary seam types and closures as indicated on the rendering.
Related Skills
I am well managed in keeping to time and budget constraints. My skills include mask making, hand beading, make up and prosthetics. I cross-stitch, knit, macramé, crochet, hand embroider and machine embroider. I am certified in both first aid and CPR.
Related Work
I work part time at The Tudor Shoppe and Costume Rentals, where I build costumes and accessories to be rented out for parties, small theatre shows and other events.
Education
I am currently in my senior year at Greensboro College with a projected graduation date in May of 2010. My theatre related courses consist of Costume 1 through 5, Pattern Making I, Theatre History, Scene Painting, Costume Design, Costume Craft, Period Styles, Rendering and Computer Aided Design with Patternmaker 7 and Photoshop CS2, and Lighting Design.
